The purpose of this part of the site is to provide some basic (get you started) advice and background knowledge on English genealogical research for those who are new to the subject. Most of this information has been gathered together over a number of years of practical experience. Whilst all of this information is almost certainly readily available in books or on other web sites my aim if to provide a 'one stop shop' of the essentials in an easily digestible form.
